For our build, we opted for a Kona Blue non-Laguna Seca version, however, we did spend a few extra imaginary dollars to get the Recaro seats and Torsen differential.       I'm usually a GM guy, but over the last few years Ford has slowly been winning me over. I really wanted to like the Camaro over the Mustang, but the Mustang is just a better car almost any way you slice it. The Boss 302 (I like the rear seat and hate the red accents, so no Laguna Seca package for me) is just enough that I'd have to select it if replacing my muscle car today.

      The one thing that holds me back (besides the fact that I'm not looking to spend on a new car now) are the mutually exclusive options. You can't choose wheels, certain car colors, remove stripes, delete MPG-robbing rear end ratios, or even select interior things like leather, navigation, or automatic climate control with many packages. The Mustang is one of the most customized cars in all American history, yet you can't get simple options in Ford's world. It is off-putting enough that I would not buy this car because there are so many things you cannot get (but that Ford offers on the Mustang) with it. The other pony I had previously toyed with before the Boss came online was the California Special which also has basically nothing you can choose with it. What if I want a nice stereo? What if I'd like to select an interior color? Maybe next time Ford.

      I just configured mine. Went for Orange, Black Stripes, Black Wheels and Recaro Seats.

      Why does this car feel like the best deal on the planet for a car at the moment?

      Tri-Shield.....youmake me laugh. Why? I wanted a G8 GXP so badly, I could taste it. But, it was not to be, paying off our son's college costs. 10 times I went to the Pontiac dealer on a Sunday to look at the GXPs he had. By the time, I was able to swing it - it was all over. I wound up ordring a Mustang GT Convertible, with every factory option. It's nice, fast enough for me, and neat looking.
      It goes sideways in 1 inch of snow. It's fun. It's NO GXP.

      This car is such a beast. I'm so tossed up between this or the Challenger SRT8. I really wish the Challenger was lighter and handled better in the twisties. Its such a mean, classic shape. This Boss is definitely badace.

      I don't usually fool around with these build configurators often, but because i love this car i'd figure i give it a try.

      What i found odd is that if you want black or silver if automatically ups the model you want to the laguna seca, and adds 7 g's.

        Not true. Most are being bought for MSRP mine being one of them. If there is a markup its usually no more then $5k which is still less than an M3.

        I do love the M3, but my wallet will appreciate the Boss!

        Ford wanted to prove it could beat the M3 on the track because the M3 is a pinnacle in the sportscar world... that said, people will not be cross-shopping a Ford and BMW. They're both awesome in their own regards, though both fulfill separate purposes.

        I owned the M3 (lease) and now moved over to the Mustang GT (purchase) and my wallet thanked me. I will be cross shopping again on my next purchase but I am pretty sure I will end up with another Ford unless the value equation changes.

        I would love Ford to take on more "sophisticated" vehicles like the M3, but to do so they need to drop the C-Stripes. This car is good enough to compete with the best from around the world, give us the option to ease back on the retro/muscle car treatments.
