Mercedes-Benz owner quickly cleans the trunk – Click above to watch video after the jump

Automated car washes are designed to turn an easy task into a simple one. Insert coins, wait for the machine to do its thing and then drive away in your clean car. Sounds easy, right? What if you're the nervous type that just has to fidget, and you also happen to own a Mercedes-Benz?

The Benz has lots of buttons, any one of which is capable of grabbing your nervous attention and asking to be pushed. But if you're going to accidentally hit any button while in the car wash, make sure it isn't the trunk. (Okay, sunroof would be pretty bad, too.)

There is a remarkable absence of shakiness in this video, since we imagine that a ton of laughter spewed forth from the mouth of the camera holder. Give in to your urges and click past the jump to view the clip.

Reality Check is correct ! Here in NY we always wash out the trunk after we've disposed of the body.Otherwise the smell is terrible.

that was courteous, the car wash closed it for them as it finished blasting their car with pressurized water.

Hey, if it had a vinyl interior, they could open the windows, too!

One of the few things I like about my Chevy Cobalt is the trunk. Instead of using gooseneck hinges like on most cars, the Cobalt's trunk has outside corner hinges and two hydraulic assist struts. After pressing the trunk release button the trunk lid raises just a fraction of an inch and you have to pull it up yourself. I really do not know why more auto manufacturers do not implement that design.

The Mazda3 has always had this design long before the Cobalt came along and the Mazda3 doesn't have it's battery in it's trunk. Mazda 1 Chevy 0.

...and the VW jetta/passat Audi A4/A6/A8 have had this design in the 90s. I'm happy your mazda had it 10 yrs after the jetta.

I think the person was on her cell phone...

And this is what is wrong with the world. Instead of quickly getting out of his car and running up to her car to close the trunk, the he got out his camera and recorded it. Seriously?!

Well, If he'd just found out as the lady drove in, I can understand staying back. I'm not going to jump out of my car whilst carwash machinery moves around me unless the person involved was in mortal danger.

yea.. and the fact that no one found such behavior shocking neither

If I were there I'd film for a while, then run out and close it for him (her?) If I didn't like the car - well that's a different story.

Definitely knew it was going to be an old lady in the drivers seat before watching the video.

That is ageist and offensive, sir. I like the way you think. :-)

Another idiot who would rather record someones troubles instead of honking or going over to help someone. It wasn't even a belt driven car wash so there would have been no danger to anyone
        • 3 Years Ago
Go read up on the story. The guy honked numerous times before she entered the car wash. Usually when someone honks a you, your natural reaction is to look behind you. Now if she had did that, she would of noticed the gigantic trunk lid open. But she didn't, so she gets a fail for this.

"It wasn't even a belt driven car wash so there would have been no danger to anyone."

Then let her trunk get wet. Besides it probably is dangerous. Have you ever been hit by hot, high-pressure water? Hurts like hell. That is not a shower.

Looks like something my lot attendant would do.
