Behold, the De Tomaso SLC Concept in all of its, um, glory. If you're like us, this probably wasn't the first thing that leapt to mind when you heard that De Tomaso was being resurrected (again) from the ashes of bankruptcy for a triumphant return to the world stage. The company says that the SLC is a luxury sports crossover.

Despite its stubby and somewhat odd proportions, this thing should be a blast to drive. According to reports, under the hood sits a 524-horsepower V8 engine, though buyers should be able to also opt for either a 296-horsepower V6 or a 247-horsepower turbodiesel six-pot should their hearts – or wallets – so desire.

De Tomaso says that the SLC Concept will bow at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show next month and that we can expect a production run of around 3,000 units starting next year. The price tag for this fine piece of machinery is expected to sit at a cool €85,000 – around $115k Yankee bucks. Better start saving your milk money.

If you were hoping to see something more along the lines of the infamous Pantera, never fear. Word is that the company is also hard at work on a spiritual successor to that beast along with a four-door sedan designed to tango with the Porsche Panamera. Check out the link below for more images.

They also claim the thing weighs about 250 kg less than it's rivals, which I think is the most interesting fact of them all.

Did DeTomaso learn nothing from the Lagonda disaster of 2009?

Yaaawwnnn .... boring!! I would take many other cars over this oddly proportioned 4 door. One that comes to mind is a BMW 550i and yet I would still pocket some change to buy something else along with it. DeTomaso is in a dreamland if they think this will sell more than 400 in year let alone th 4,000 target. $115,000 for an ugly car ... great idea!

Most of the interior is straight out of the Cadillac SRX. Is that the platform this is built on? Surprised nobody caught that. I wonder if these engines are from Chevy.

Anyway, it looks tall, boring, and fat. Not exactly my idea of a Detomaso.

OK, so maybe not MOST of the interior, but some of it anyway. Steering wheel, switch gear and possibly instrument cluster.

Agreed! I didn't click the link before but that is definitely a GM "stick" wiper/cruise/turn signal stalk. Gross.

6 lug wheels, just like the SRX as well..... hmmmm

Crossover? It looks more like a sedan. I'm surprised they didn't go with "four-door coupe".

It looks like BMW made a Buick Regal and then tripled the price.

I'd actually appreciate the awkwardness of this car if the BMW GT didn't beat it to the punch. This thing is no longer weird and intriguing...it's just weird.

A maserati, an infiniti, and a buick walk into a building...

This is going to be as big a joke as old Chryslers rebadged as Lancias.

love it...looks like regular car...never be able to afford it...but it looks attainable...whatever...i like the idea of more car companies and more variety of products on the market, so you go de tomaso.

Rumors in Italy say it's based on a Ford platform.

Front is a Mitsubishi, the rest looks like, well, ahh, um, Infinity?
      Totally lost design.
