Spy Shots: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 – Click above for high-res image gallery

We can hardly wait for the redesigned Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 to strut across the stage at the 2011 New York Auto Show. Thankfully, we can get our muscle truck fill courtesy of some spy shots showing our favorite non-trail rated Jeep taking in some desert sun.

This next-generation Grand Cherokee SRT8 is rumored to pack a 6.4-liter Hemi engine under the hood, which should be good for around 470 horsepower. Rather disappointingly, the rumormill has the automatic transmission earmarked as only having five ratios, but it's at least said to be the first SRT-branded product with paddle-shifters. What's more, the brake pedal should handily haul in the twisting speedo needle thanks to a set of 14-inch Brembos.

If the Jeep is the off roader turned Sports Car... What could they do with a Dodge Durango SRT8???

It would murder the GL550 and any other Large 3 Row CUV... Or is that to close to what the future Maserati CUV might be competing with...

WHY?? This truck makes no sense at all.. if you want to go fast in a straight line get Camaro , Stang or Challenger (if your nuts), and if you want to tow get a real truck.. who does this appeal to besides hairy chested nut-jobs who want a fast truck to burn through the boulevard... this thing makes no sense.. if you don't agree look at the driver of the next one you see.

Sure, they won't sell like Camaros, Mustangs, or Challengers, but it is still nice to have some variety. It's a cool concept in that it is different. A lot of cars don't really make much sense, but it is not always about that, especially if you can afford it.

This makes sense if you want the performance of a fast car with the utility of a smaller SUV. You can go fast and have more company there to enjoy it with you.

        I can't afford it anyway...

Those pics are months old, but its the first time I noticed the 2 big vents in the hood camo. This thing possibly has two hood vents under there....

      Can't wait till NYAS!!

Good about time! And I hope that rollcage in the back comes as an option as well.

Maybe those vents on the hood mean this really a mule for the new Maserati SUV!

The Charger SRT8 that just bowed at Chicago has paddle shifters on the wheel, so unless they don't offer it until later, the JGC SRT8 won't be the first SRT with paddle shifters.
