Jay Leno tests the Lamborghini Reventon – Click above to watch the video after the break

Jay Leno
today gives us a rare glimpse into the Lamborghini Section of his Big Dog Garage, where his two Miuras share space with a Countach and an Espada. Must be nice, eh? As much as we love those Italian steeds, the subject of today's visit to the garage is the awesome, flat black, fighter jet-inspired Reventón.

Specifically, we're ogling number 007 of 20 Reventón supercars that Lamborghini produced after the tremendous reception the car received after being introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. All 20 of these cars were delivered to paying customers, so the only way to get one now is to go out on the open market... and, for what it's worth, 007 is for sale.

Because this car is privately owned (and not by Jay), the late night comedian and automotive enthusiast went a bit easy on it, eschewing burnouts for rolling full-throttle starts. No matter, the sound from that 650-horsepower 6.5-liter V12 engine is plenty intoxicating, and judging by how it jets away from the camera car, it's plenty fast. See for yourself in the video after the break.

      frankfurt 2011 What!!!

I'm wondering... for limited-edition cars that come with individual numbers, are the copies with particularly special digits (#001 for being #1, #007 for being James Bond's agent number) typically worth more than their counterparts with less significant numbers?

Nice car but that's a Bruce Wayne Car, not a James Bond car Jay.....

The Reventon was introduced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motorshow eh?

Lol, you beat me to it.

"it has the dependability of an Audi"...Say what? Buahahahahah!
The owner was probably hoping Jay would buy it.

At least he sees the ridiculousness of the car. It's a rebodied LP640 with the same engine for $2 million, how stupid is that?

I'm pretty picky about car design and am usually spot on, even before others come around. That said, Lambo's are -not- ugly. There's rarely a line on a Lambo I don't like except the Gallado's somewhat truncated tail as viewed from the side.

I've rarely ever liked a Ferrari more than a Lambo, design-wise.

The LFA as you linked? Everything from the front wheel back looks pretty decent, especially from the side. Front wheel forward? As one writer put it "Japanese brutalism." They seriously should have stuck with the concept car design.

I have had the pleasure of seeing this car in person about 3 times now and it is just amazing.
I don't know about $1.5 to $2.2 million amazing, but it is good.
I still want the McClaren F1 more.
      I want it so bad.
His collection is so awesome, I just want to kill myself. lol
Miura, Countach, F1, Carerra GT..... so wrong.
If I had a Carerra GT and a McLaren F1, my life would be complete.

Damn that thing is SEXY....I'd probably take this over the Veyron based solely on looks. I believe the roadster has a different matte' silver paint-job, which looks WAY better IMO.

Is it just me, but when Jay accelerates, doesn't the the engine sound like a quieter McLaren F1? Anyhow, the Reventon is gorgeous.

        a guido relic.
lambo will very soon have to make power electric cars or they'll die. same goes for ferrari. yes yes I know many of you don't understand that but you will.

electric owns. they will run circles around veyrons. you'll see. and much cheaper too.

@ bobcat1059 and flashpoint , you took the bait , next time don't feed the troll :)

My soul is not stirred by the whirr of an electric motor. Not the way
it is by the wail of a Lambo V12...or a small-block Chevy, for that
matter, or any number of classic engines and the vehicles that use
them. Cars like this are about the emotions you feel while driving
it, not just numbers. Until you understand that, you won't understand
what many of these posts, the cars they are about, or the people who
        read them, are all about.

I think(and hope) that the future will be like as Jay Leno imagined in an episode of Top Gear; everyone's daily runabout car will be hydrogen/electric but petrol cars will still exist but purely for pleasure, like what happened to the horse.

        @ Dan Frederiksen

Give me the intoxicating sound of that V12
I could care less that your electric will be quicker
        • 4 Years Ago

Electric cars can be built even faster than the gas powered V12 based on what I've seen from Tesla.

Even though your comment was meant for bad, I see an Electric Lambo in the future as a good thing.

I will never, ever be able to own this car because I'm 6'6 and don't have millions in the bank. Even if I did, I probably wouldn't be able to get my hands on one of these.

Fortunately, there is the CTS-V Coupe.
Electric cars will just make gas cars all the more special, just like the Model A is a useless relic today, but gets all the looks when it rolls down the road. Gas cars, that are emotional purchases today, will appreciate in value as they are replaced by electric cars.

Don't know if the site is b0rked or not, but I couldn't get the video to download. I'll try later because I'd love to see Jay drive around in this thing.

The Miura will always be my absolute favorite Lambo, but this Reventon is definitely my 2nd favorite.
