Porsche 911 GT2 RS out on the track – Click above to watch the video after the jump

It doesn't take much to set up a video like this. After all, why wouldn't you want to see even more footage of the 2011 Porsche 911 GT2 RS being flogged around a track? It's footage we can't seem to get enough of.

There's nothing like watching a 620-horsepower 911 doing what it does best out on a closed course, and we highly recommend that you take a five-and-a-half-minute break from whatever you're doing to watch the video after the jump.

Take 5 minutes away from Gran Turismo? Errr.... maybe later.

You should have plenty of time on those loading screens.

Too bad the contest is not available to those of us who live in the other side of the Atlantic. I'd be happy to pop for a plane ticket and a couple of nights in a hotel, for a drive in a GT2! I'd even put up with a TSA molestation to get on the plane... As for the driving style of the on-camera guy... Showmanship, not speed. How many times have we got to say that burning rubber and side-sliding is not really fast, it just looks that way to the unitiated.

Very neat but that accent is annoying

I know a lot of version of this model look the same, but man THIS ONE is my favorite.
      Good job Porsche!

Am I the only one who thinks that for all the people that say the Corvette variants look all too similar, 911s are the same way?

      Porsche ftw!!

Does anyone else feel that all this sliding and wheel screeching is ridiculous.
      WTF!

Is it just me? For some reason I'm getting tired of people drifting in video reviews. Video angles of cars drifting look great and all, but he doesn't seem to take any turns without sliding...
I'm so not a fan of the drifting but I was thinking that perhaps they do this because of the supposed cool factor and I think it adds an element of control highlighting how refined the car is. That is to say that you can get the tail loose with 620 hp and the car seems to be like "oh, ok...that all you got???" =)

Agreed. Slides are neat and all, but I did not tune in to see a Porsche do a Viper impersonation while being lauded for its superiority. It's all a bit too ironic.

You're probably right. It's the same with the newer "muscle cars" and how they seem to always have a picture of them smoking the tires.
        Exactly,
All this drifting just looks ridiculous, I mean, that guy didn't take one single turn without drifting. Why would you need a "perfectly balanced" car if you drive like that sob.
Maybe I am just too old to get this drifting craze
        • 4 Years Ago
I was thinking the exact same thing. This isn't suppose to be a drift car... it's a road-going race car that shouldn't be drifting in it's natural element. I guess a video like this is sexier and likely to sell more cars though. Shame on you porsche!

Regardless, this car is frickin sweeeet!

      Simply Amazing. I'm amazed.

      Captain Price, is that you?
He would have better lap times if he learned to drive without sliding all over the place! Time to review the traction circle!

My son-in-law (Ortho surgeon) just took delivery of his. He let me drive it. All I can say is "there are cars faster than THIS?"

Dream car. I have it all planned out now. Massive PIAA fog lights on the front, one on each corner under the regular headlights. Both have white LED's inside of them.

Lowered, with 993 GT2 style stamped on overfenders, and 993 GT2 styled rear trunk C Pillar vents. Bronze TE37 Deep dish fortified with Carbon ribs. Massive double decker dry carbon spoiler, rising just slightly below the height of the roof.

Plexiglass, lightened, with 1000HP Switzer package, tuned by Rauh Welt.

Yes I've put alot of thought into this. It's my dream car of course. My god I want a GT2.
