Ayrton Senna biopic trailer – Click above to watch video after the jump

Ayrton Senna da Silva was born on March 21, 1960. To our knowledge, he won his first competition when he cut his umbilical cord before his doctor could. In reality, he began his karting career at age 13. He jumped to single-seat race cars in 1981 before finally reaching the holy land of Formula One in 1984. He was just 24. Four years later, he captured the first of three world championship titles, cementing his legacy as one of the greatest drivers of all time.

Watching Senna drive, especially in rainy conditions, was like watching an artist create a masterpiece. As you already know, tragedy struck when Ayrton Senna died in an accident during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix at Imola. Senna aficionados will soon get the opportunity to learn more about their idol, thanks to a forthcoming documentary. A Japanese-language trailer has been released for the upcoming biopic, Senna, the first officially-sanctioned feature-length film about the Brazilian driver who, to this day, remains sorely missed. Click past the jump to watch it.

I remember being up around 2 in the morning watching the race on TV in Winnipeg. Waiting for him to get out of the car. But that moment never came.

+1 ....."The Greatest F-1 driver the world will ever see"

Watching the old races on YouTube reminds me of how beautiful the McLaren MP4 series of F1 cars were! Just simple & elegant.

It says that it's coming out in Japan first (on the 8th of October). Probably to coincide with the start of the Japanese Grand Prix.

Its weird I lost interest in F1 after Senna gone, I didn't realize that I also lost interest in basketball after Jordan retire. I was so young watching F1 in TV those car are pure machine no driving aid here there and so powerful I don't know how these guys can control those beast.

It looks absolutely incredible. I can't wait to see it.

I hope they include full laps of cockpit camera footage of him racing at famous tracks with just the sound of the car's engine, no voiceovers or anything. Even if it's only as Bonus Footage / Extras, that is essential to a proper documentary of Senna. To not include that would be like not showing the actual artwork in a documentary of a famous painter.

Looking forward to this. However, the word "biopic" must be killed and killed again.

Some are saying this is a fake, that its not the documentary that Clarkson was referring to thats due to release this autumn.

You all need to watch Antti Kalhola's 45 minute Senna documentary. Its simply breathtaking if you are into this kinda stuff.

I honestly cant wait for the real thing, be this it or not. Greatest driver who ever lived.

Most interesting thing I've ever heard about Senna, is that on race day at Imola '94 they were investigating the wreckage from his Williams and they found an Austrian flag Senna was going to wave when he won the race, because of Ratzenburger (an Austrian) who died the day before.

Did that say the release date will be the 8th of October?

Can't wait to see it, the BBC did a nice little spot as part of their F1 coverage and Top Gear did too.
