We've seen Valentino Balboni drive the tires off his namesake and even managed to spend a few hours with the man while stuck in LA's notoriously hellish traffic. Now, Danish magazine Bil Magasinet gets some quality time with the famed test driver as he flogs his Lamborghini LP550-2 across the frozen countryside.

Balboni's warm, Italian charm stands in stark contrast to the surrounding snow as he offers up several choice quotes about Lamborghinis past and present, his time with the automaker and the development of the LP550-2, among others. Speaking about the lack of all-wheel drive, Balboni says simply, "You need to control the car, the car doesn't control you." And with that he pulls off yet another perfect powerslide and goes about his day. It's like you're sitting in the passenger seat yourself. Hit the jump to see what we mean.

Every time I see Valentino Balboni I wish he was my grandfather.

I'm not much of a Gallardo fan, but this looks fantastic...and to carry Balboni's name on it. Congratulations on your legacy. :)

Good to know the magic still lives on in Lamborghini even after the Audi takeover. The rear wheel drive proves this. Unless this is all an exercise in marketing.
        World's greatest marketers if so.

speaking of magic, if that sound doesn't send chills down your spine, then you don't have one.

In the magazine where the article is in, they mention that he takes pictures with his Iphone of the Balboni (as you can see in the end of the clip), Im genuinely surprised that they haven't given him a car of his own.

Its a dual article where they also give the Diablo GT a go on the same roads, the one they drive is Lambo's own from their museum, it was brought out after 2 years in there and on summer tires... and Balboni gave it a good workout despite :)

I wonder how good looking the new one will be? any spy shots yet???
There are no spy shots of Balboni's successor yet, whether he'll be good looking or not is purely speculation at this point.

Must be such and honor and awesome feeling of graditude to have a Lamborghini make a limited edition after you.

About the paddles in the video. The Balboni only comes in manual. The reason you see paddles is he's in a different car during the interview and a different car during the driving sessions. You'll see there's no passenger when he's in the white Balboni.
