Pontiac G8 GXP wears an HSV costume --Click above for an image gallery

Thanks to a tipster who shall remain anonymous, we have a set of photos showing what kind of fun you can have if you're the lucky owner of a Pontiac G8 GXP. This California car has been fitted the Aussie-market HSV front fascia, rear spoiler, hood, and wheels, but the vanity plate lets other motorists in on the Arrowhead-shaped secret. Any way you cut it, it looks good -- better even than the way the G8 GXP looks rolling out of your soon-to-be-defunct local Poncho store. So, hit the gallery to see the rest of it, and thanks to our tipster for the pics.

Since GM is not selling off the Pontiac brand, I wonder whether they might bring it back in the future.

      This looks good.
This is just dumb not to keep the G8 in some form or the other.

TVS1900 or TVS2300 would be just as well, and cost less...
No one sees the irony in that the owner has a G8 GXP plate on the car?
OMG I want one! I've heard/seen on interwebs of this before, but my goodness does it look sweet in blue!
I know why people might want to make their G8 look like an HSV or VXR8, but why the hell would you then get "G8 GXP" plates and give it away? Idiot.

And somewhere in Australia, there's a dude turning his HSV into a Pontiac.

        Alex,

        I couldn't agree more.

You know, Skybreak, I'd like nothing more than to see Holdens and HSVs in Chevy badges here...
Actually not really... down here we turn them into Chevy's.

        The grass is always greener...

Rest assured, that is extremely unlikely.
I don't think so! Your american stylists certainly made a decent looking car ugly, just look at the hood scoops and grill :P Over here you see more people putting Chev badges on their Commodores.

As an Aussie, I'm very prod that the HSV GTS/Clubsport R8 (Pontiac G8 to you guys) was developed and produced in australia and the platform is now underpining another sucsessful american car, the Camaro SS.
I completely agree that the original HSV body kit looks better than the pontiac one and also that the rebadging to a chevy should happen, its a great car (alot better than most of the crap made over there) and you guys deserve it!

i'm pretty pissed the poms get the bathurst edition... they can't even pronounce bathurst properly :(
        • 5 Years Ago
POM is Australian slang for an Englishmen.

If you are being formal then it is "Pommy bastard". :)

Believed to have originally referred to "Prisoner of Mother England" or "POHM Prisoner of His Majesty", from Australias convict days and now just refers to anyone from England.

There are some GTO's that were converted to Monaros as well.

I owned a GTO and currently own a G8. My hope is that once GM pays back its loan, they can look at bring the G8 in some form. Hard to believe they would scrap the entire america package since they still are making the Commodore.
There are a few owners that I know of who have done full Holden conversions also. But not the HSV, this looks sick!
does anyone know howlong GM will be importing the G8 for? I know that the GXP is supposed to go away soon but I am interested in a GT.
I thought they already stopped making Pontiacs- except for the Vibe.

        Just what I thought.
I'm curious what they're going for. Maybe I'll have to pop into a dealership
        • 5 Years Ago
        You're right Tagline.

The G8 is already out of production and has been. If you want a new G8, you better act fast. My local Pontiac dealer only has 1 GT and 1 GXP left.
