Mini JCW World Championship 50 unveiled at MINI United

To go along with the Mini 50 Camden and Mini 50 Mayfair, spotted at the Mini United gathering this weekend was a British Racing Green treat: the Mini JCW World Championship 50. The 50th anniversary JCW special gets an exclusive non-metallic BRG finish, Pepper White roof and stripes, JCW aero kit, cross-spoke Challenge alloy wheels in jet black, carbon black leather seats with red piping, and Alcantara JCW steering wheel, and a sport suspension along with carbon fiber bits and identifying plaques throughout.
There are no engine mods, so you can probably expect the same 208 hp in the current JCW coupe. But the exclusivity is going to cost you. According to MotoringFile's sources there will only be 250 examples produced, with the price in Europe reported to be €40,000. A U.S. allotment is still undeclared.

They couldn't have dropped it just a bit? It looks like an SUV with that wheel gap.

probably because it's intended to be driven and not carted from local car show to local car show.

It didn't say they had to slam it, just close it up a bit.

I have an idea...lets make an overpriced car more overpriced. It really is a wonder that after all these years there isn't a single manufacturer that has attempted to try and take some of the small, sporty go-kart segment away from Mini/BMW. This has allowed Mini to walk all over there customers in terms of price. If the Fiat 500 were to against it I wonder how it would do?

They have in other parts of the world, the US has just been so opposed to small cars for so long that no other companies found it worthwhile to bring anything that size over. Ford's starting to with the Fiesta, and with the 500 possibly coming there should be competition soon.

I think Mazda has done an excellent job with the Miata. Sure its not in the class but I don't really see anything else that size and price selling as well.

I gotta say - wheel gap and the fact that I have a 9-year-old child aside - I want this car. I love the true BRG color and the stripes. I am sure the wheels look great too.
It's just too small to survive a serious accident with some American leviathan of an auto.

As a MCS owner, man, I love this car. I tried to get my wife to get BRG on her MCS, but she wouldn't do it. The BRG w/ white roof, bonnet stripes, and black wheels looks amazing.

Cool, but 40k euros? Oh wait, its' made by BMW, so the ludicrous overpricing makes sense. I guess 250 fools and their money will be soon parted.
