If you haven't caught an episode of
Autoline After Hours, this is the show to watch. Joining AAH's host and Autoblog contributor John McElroy is Autoextremist's own Peter De Lorenzo and former Chrysler PR man Jason Vines. For an additional bit of flavor, The Truth About Cars' founder and editor, Robert Farago, will join the trio to discuss the week's events, including – but not limited to – Chrysler's bankruptcy filing and the death of Pontiac. With everything that's gone on in the past four days, tonight's show should be an epic meeting of the minds, and the fun begins now.

Robert Farago's argumentative form of debating makes my head hurt.

His babyish attitude about himself, his site, and his opinions makes my head hurt.

I've never really read ttac.com before. But, after listening to Robert Farago for about 8 minutes, I will actively avoid his site.

He's just as annoying in audio form as he is on his jaded blog. I can't decide who's a bigger loon, him or Tomas Friedman.

"Oy vey," my grandmother says, "what a schmuck."
Grandma, 1. Farago, 0.

Inviting Farago instantly lowers the credibility of this program in my mind. I would rather hear from the local homeless Tourette's sufferer that hangs out on a downtown corner.

Ha! Peter and Jason are giving him heck though, so it's kinda worth it. Farago hates to take his own medicine, I guess.

Hear, hear!!!
Frank 7:39AM (5/01/2009)
Especially Peter. He just (deservedly) ripped into him.
Frank 7:49AM (5/01/2009)
Was I hearing things or did Peter early on in the show refer to Farago's site as Tic-Tac.com? Priceless!

So let me get this straight, they put Farago on via Web connection so they could bitch and moan when he starts telling them the exact same things he writes on his website every day of every week?
Great idea guys.
Farago: "When did this become a pissing match?" Stay classy. A bunch of whiny douchebaggery in my opinion.

I think my post may end up being misunderstood, so let me make myself crystal clear:
-Farago shouldn't have been added to this discussion if they didn't want to hear what he had to say.
-Farago acted like a douche.
-The others (notably McElroy and Vines) attempted to be somewhat civil.
-De Lorenzo also acted a bit douchey at points.
The whole thing basically consisted of McElroy attempting to be semi-civil while still disagreeing strongly with Farago, and Farago just whined over everything McElroy said and shrilly attacked De Lorenzo.
Farago made some decent points but he made them in an obnoxious way.

Does Robert delete comments on the video player if they don't agree with his point of view, like he does on his own web site?

Right on. Stopped going there after it became clear he deleated any comment that suggested his point of view may be wrong.
Yikes 11:00AM (5/01/2009)
No kidding.
I posted ONCE to his crappy site to correct him. Clearly that asswipe can't take critism or stand to be corrected.
He deleted my post and sent me a message threatening to ban me.
I have never visited that worthless site again.
Jared 12:05PM (5/01/2009)
I'm yet another one who was threatened with banned from Farago's site for disagreeing with him. He dishes it out, but can't take it.
Gary 7:49PM (4/30/2009)
The more I watch this, the more I think that Robert is like that annoying guy at a dinner party who will NEVER admit that his point of view is wrong. His way of trying to win an argument is to talk louder or over the other guy. Whatever happened to "agree to disagree"?
Apparently he hasn't ever read the book "How to Win Friends and Influence People".

I think you should amend the title of this post to "Autoline After Hours: TTAC's Robert Farago joins McElroy, De Lorenzo and Vines for the first and last time."
John McElroy seems like such a nice, classy, and earnest guy. Why would he invite Farago on who is the complete opposite of those three traits?

No matter how you feel about Mr. Farago he has been the most accurate predictor and chronicler of the Detroit demise. He knows his stuff. I used to be a huge fan of De Lorenzo but then he went from the autoextremist to the autoapologist and became a defender of the indefensible. Farago on the other hand is consistent, believable, and most importantly, correct.
