We first saw this insane Mustang at SEMA in 2006 where it stood out among the hundreds of other customized cars. It was recently highlighted in the March issue of DuPont Registry as the Publisher's Choice, and we now have the full specs on the car as well as some gorgeous high resolution studio shots in our gallery below. There's too many details to list, but highlights include a twin-supercharged and intercooled 392ci V8 producing 800+ horsepower on pump gas, as well as fully custom bodywork, a 5-speed manual transmission with paddle shifters, hidden roll cage, and a 3000-watt sound system. Apparently the car is for sale, and since only one will ever be built we're guessing the asking price is pretty hefty. Visit the the Obsidian SG1's website for more information and complete specs on the car as well as photos of the build process, videos, and you can even make an offer on the car.

Wow, that is sick!
Freestyle4x4f150 @ May 1st 2008 3:40PM
Holy shhhyt, that is a real Mustang right there, that is pure american badaass!!
NeoMoose @ May 1st 2008 3:41PM
No doubt about it, that car is HOT
PaulPaul @ May 1st 2008 3:43PM
they should charge 80k for it.
Torrent @ May 1st 2008 3:46PM
NOW THIS I'D PAY 80,000 BUCKS FOR.
Franz @ May 1st 2008 3:48PM
Hmmm... this or a GT500KR... what a dilemma... NOT!!! I'm sure I could build something pretty similar to this for way less than $80K (I wouldn't want paddle shifters or 3000 watts of stereo, plus a regular 580hp big block from the Ford Racing catalog would do me just fine). Now this is a real Mustang.
Blake @ May 1st 2008 4:36PM
Then it's not really the same car then, is it?
Franz @ May 1st 2008 4:45PM
@ Blake:
Read carefully. I never said I could build the same car: "I'm sure I could build something pretty similar to this for way less than $80K"
Gavin @ May 1st 2008 3:54PM
This should have been the new KITT for Knight Rider. The interior seems to fit the part (the seats even look straight out of the 80's!)
Berto @ May 1st 2008 5:47PM
I can truly say that I saw this coming from miles away. You've made my day, haha
GT-Racer @ May 1st 2008 3:59PM
Hmmm... not sure if i'd be too comfy with 800hp and what appears to be the rear differential sitting right next to me. But other than that DAMN it's badass.

With so much fabrication eye candy as there is on this car I would've thought they could have found someplace for the intercoolers other than directly over the exhaust manifolds.
TBlueMax @ May 1st 2008 4:11PM
Different, impressive even... lots of fabrication work there... but I've gotta tell ya, they really tossed an old '67/'68 fastback in the blender with a current model Mustang to make this thing and the car doesn't look old enough to be classic or new enough to be modern. Different. I'll stick with different for this thing.
It really looks like a polished up extra from the Mad Max franchise... and from that perspective, this thing is perfect.
carguy @ May 1st 2008 4:15PM
Overcompensation is the root of most evils. Including this one. What the Mustang needs is an independed rear axle - not stupid amount of horse power.
Toy Yoda @ May 1st 2008 4:23PM
What is the advantage of twin superchargers? Is it mainly a piping issue? Or is there any performance gain? I can see a less spooling time for a twin TURBO charger, but I don't see the performance advantage in a twin SUPER charger, other than it looks cool.
Blake @ May 1st 2008 4:38PM
"...but I don't see the performance advantage in a twin SUPER charger, other than it looks cool."
'Nuff said.
2004m3driver @ May 1st 2008 4:56PM
Doesn't even look that cool, maybe thats just me.
Not a fan of gigantic hood scoops. Maybe a lil tiny one, but that big honking one is hideous, especially with the extra vents on the side.
mk @ May 1st 2008 5:00PM
I like classic stangs, but this is an abomination.
S197 headlights? cheesy lower facias on front and rear, and a hood scoop that no designer would ever have drawn.
It seems like an excercise in wanton excess without much of a plan, other than making it very glossy black, and powerful enough to blow tires before the burn-out is over.
Sorry, not convinced.
Berto @ May 1st 2008 5:50PM
I was actually going to e-mail autoblog about this because I came across it browsing the net last night7i6. I was actually going to send it as a "Check out this monstrosity made out of a Mustang."
Ugly
SPG @ May 1st 2008 6:03PM
Obsidian really pillaged the pretty from a classic's looks.
And the interior? Maybe even if more of a classic color scheme was used.
