Pics Aplenty: Aston Martin Racing Vantage GT2

Click image for a hi-res gallery of the Vantage GT2
The flexfuel-compatible Aston Martin Vantage GT2 that we first reported on back in January has finally been captured in the photo studio. Not surprisingly, it's a looker. After all, the Vantage is a car that activates the pheromones in many a gearhead. Making it Le Mans Series-worthy just piles on the awesome. The car makes its competition debut for James Watt Automotive on April 5 in the European Le Mans series at Barcelona, and it's also good to go for ALMS if any teams decide to take the plunge. Without further ado, have a look for yourself. We like the subtle Gulf colors -- who knew orange lipstick could be so pretty? If baby blue and orange doesn't do it for you, check out the menacing black car that participated in the Paul Ricard test session with the rest of the Aston racers. The phrase, "It's all good" applies here. Gallery: Aston Martin Vantage GT2

Big fan of AM Racing and obviously the cars, I love this marque and would like to see it win Le Mans again.

Question: I see side exhaust outlets, but what's with the big holes where the outlets are in the stock Vantage? Shouldn't those be covered up?

Can't have enough outlets, I guess. I also think its for style.

The ports in the rear bumper seem to be completely blocked off - probably just a style element. The ports in the center of the rocker panels under the doors are the exhaust, and the upper mesh outlet (behind the front fenders) looks like engine cooling and it looks like there's a pipe behind the lower mesh outlet - either cooling or aero.
I want one.

Last month I attended the 12 Hours of Sebring (of the AMLS) and had the opportunity to talk briefly with a mechanic of the Drayson-Barwell team. I was told that the team has the privilege of receiving the first Vantage GT2 off the line, a benefit, no doubt, of being an official partner of the Aston Martin Racing Team. I was also told the team expects to receive the new car, which replaces the uncompetitive DBRS9 they ran at Sebring, in time for the race at Long Beach in just 2 weeks time. I can't wait to see this fiercely beautiful car raced by the very modern and friendly team that is Drayson-Barwell!
