Both Top Gear the magazine and Top Gear the TV show are known for their extremely high production values, whether it's jaw-dropping photography on the printed page are expertly produced video segments on the boob tube. The magazine recently commissioned a photo shoot of the new Dodge Challenger SRT8 and enlisted the services of Carpix.com photographer Andrew Yeadon, who in turn sought out the help of Streetfire.net for the photoshoot on an abandoned runway near L.A. Never without their video gear, the Streetfire.net crwe caught everything on camera and produced a video of the shoot that includes an interview with Andrew Yeadon covering just how the pro photog goes about shooting a car for one of the world's most respected auto mags. If you're into automotive photography like us, hearing Yeadon reveal some of his tips and tricks for a great photo shoot is priceless information. They've supplied us with some of his shots in the gallery below, and you can check out the video after the jump.

"whether it's jaw-dropping photography on the printed page are expertly produced video segments on the boob tube"
I think the word you were looking for was "or". I know they're very similar, but plugging this paragraph into Word before you posted it would have helped both of these errors.

The lead-in photo is the first good-looking shot of the Challenger I've seen. It makes the car look long, low, mean and lean, rather than the PR shots we've seen previously, which make it look rather fat and tippy-toed.
_Chrylser_ needs to pay this guy.

I think the color of the car has something to do with that. I thought I liked it in orange, but I realy like it in black. To bad they didn't line up the old and the new and have a go at it in that video.

The car looks alot lower/longer due to the shadow/black.
Also, It looks ALOT like the Camaro in that pic.

Nice vid. One tip that I'd like to throw out there is ALWAYS TURN THE FRONT WHEELS SO YOU ARE SHOWING OFF THE RIM. I haven't seen too many shots where it just shows the tire that look good.

not always mate, not always...
glitched @ Mar 27th 2008 6:30PM
is it just me or are the tires looking way to skinny, especially the back tires....

wish the video wasn't squished/distorted. makes the car look really bad. all narrow and stuff.

watch it on the streetfire.net site for the proper aspect ratio: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/Top-Gear-Magazine-shoot-for-new-Challenger-SRT_155365.htm

Yeah, nothing makes a car look worse than having it narrower and taller. Fortunately I stopped about 15 seconds in and went looking for the original, which is thankfully in proper widescreen format. Conversely, some cars that are rather forgettable in real life, can actually look pretty cool in the external rearview mirrors.

Nice find AB! It's always good to hear someone discussing what they're great at, especially when it has to do with cars and photography. I'm not too thrilled by the Challenger, but I have to agree that it looks spectacular in his work.

this guy is a real proffessional, he doesn't bahave like a clown unlike his TopGear colleagues. + he makes great shots. I love watching TopGear videos and magazine pictures (not necessery listen and read them)
LloydChiro @ Mar 27th 2008 8:46PM
Those guys can make any car look good.

Sunset shot of the Challengers is amazing. Besides the shadow below the new Challenger it's perfect.
Cyclone @ Apr 1st 2008 10:34PM
The shot of the old and new Challenger, both in black, driving side by side is the money shot right there. They really know how to show off a car.
