One Scoop or Three? Subaru Impreza STi may get "scooplets"

While the world seems to know every minute detail of the new GTR and Evo X prior to their launch at the Tokyo Motor Show in October, there are conflicting views and reports regarding the exact appearance of the upcoming Subaru Impreza STI. Gold alloys or silver? Two exhausts or four? One scoop or three?
Yep, you read that right. At least one of the modelling mules at Subaru's Mitaka design studios appeared to have additional "scooplets" bracketing the tradional STI gaping hole. The picture above is Best Car's rendering of such a set up. We will bring you shots of the real deal just as soon as one is caught in the wild. Promise.

Comparing it to the Best Car rendering:
Wheels-> Best Car
Grill-> This one
Front-> Push
Flares-> Best Car
Hoodscoop-> Best Car- unless the additional scoops provide some benefit.

it's like putting lipstick on a pig...no matter how many 'scoops' it gets.

I hate the new WRX/Corolla but the more "models" of the STi come out the more intrigued i become. I'd really like to get a glimspe of the production car so i can determine if it will be my next car or will it be a used 07...
Hurry up Subaru!

Throwing more sugar on a cake does not necessarily make it tastier.
Sometimes less is more. Subaru really needs a design intervention.

The extra hoodscoops could work, but not with that smiling grille. Some functional NACA ducts could be cool. It works on the F40 right?

it really dosen't look that bad, but they still could have done a better job.

You're nuts if you think this is worse than the last STi. I'd say this is possibly the best looking STi to hit Stateside, assuming it actually looks anything like this RENDERING.

Funny... I bet of Chevrolet or Ford put a bunch of hood scoops on their hood, functional or not, the import fans would make all manner of disparaging remarks.
I have enjoyed driving Soobs in the past, but they look more gimmicky every year.

LOVE it. Rargh!!!
Love the hood, the stance, the curves, the wheels, etc.
Oh yeah, she's going to drive like the dickens too.
Probably fake though... And like I can afford the car, the insurance, the gas.
Sigh...

At least the WRX comes in a Sedan. Who needs a bloody wagon/hatch anyway? If I bought one, it would not be this year. I'd wait 2 years for the next re-design.
Subaru needs some Italian designers. They make the best looking cars, IMHO.

I truly respect everyone's right chime in with their feelings about the new Impreza. And I'm sure you're not all the same people chiming in with every new blog post about the car.
BUT - before anyone posts another new bash, do yourself a favor and go down to your Subie dealer and check the WRX out. I just did so today and was amazed how much better it looks in person.
I'm a Subaru fan for 20 years now and we're on our third right now, and I understand all the angles people are coming from, be it domestic fans hating on another import, or euro fans hating on Asian cars, or old-school Subie fans hating on new-gen Subaru design. I have many problems things Suburu NA has been doing these days, and I'm still not a huge fan of this car, but enough already with all the under-informed judgment passing.
Christ, if I saw fit to b*tch about vehicle that I thought was ugly (i.e. nearly every SUV EVER MADE), I'd wear my keyboard out.
