All-new Infiniti FX to debut in Geneva '08

Our friends over at the GT Channel are in the midst of Infiniti's G37 press event, and between shrimp cocktails and the malaise of pandering PR-types, Mark Igo, the general manager and veep of Nissan's luxury arm made the announcement that a new FX is due to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next year.
It's a foregone conclusion that the new 3.7-liter VQ-series V6 will be making its way under the hood of many new Infiniti models, including the new G37, M37 and now, the FX37. But aside from powertrain speculation, Igo remained mum on any styling revisions that the long-in-the-tooth FX will undergo. We'll be on the floor in Geneva in March, so for now, the waiting game begins.

"BIGGER!"
"HEAVIER!"
"LOWER MPG!"
But it's OK because it's an import.

I'm pretty sure fuel economy was just as important as more power for the two new VQ iterations. Or at least less polution instead of increased MPG, can't remember exactly and don't really care, especially since your post is basically just a domestic fanboy thing anyways.

no facts there just hate huh
the G37 got heavier and gets a bit better mpg and a lot less polution
so expect that the FX will remain a beauty, get similar milage to today, go up in weight about 5-=70lbs and get a lot less polution
the EX will be the one now, as it will be lighter, cost less, and probably handle better
I also donn't foreee the new model being that much of a change, it will most likey easily be identified as an FX, but the chasis will have been improved a lot as well
similar to the G35/G37 change that's taken place.
No need to reinvent the car, seeing how not many outthre offer a more sexy package than the FX

Um...... lower mpg? Imports got diesel and hybrid wtf does domestic have? Ford paid an arm and a leg to toyota for that gimmicky hybrid and look what happen. If you're going to complain import on anything I don't think MPG should be it. Nissan's VQ V6 technology is far superior than those in the same category and price.

Will the M37 and FX37 be '09 models then?

Right, so is this going to be an '09? Or is it going to be just an '08 re-skin?

Is this an all-new model or just a re-skin?

Can the Nissan version not be hideous this time? I mean, you can scoop up a base Murano for about 25 grand, but the FX is worth a huge premium just because it isn't such an eyesore.

Contrary to popular belief, the Murano is not the Nissan version of the FX. The Murano is based on the same platform as the Altima, while the FX is based on the same platform as the G35. The Nissan is a front wheel drive vehicle, while the Infiniti is a rear-wheel drive vehicle.

can someone please tell me what is the nissan version of the infiniti fx
AntBee 11:20AM (7/24/2007)
I hope to God they don't mess up this beautiful rendition of an SUV or Cross-over or whatever it's category. The FX is the only kind of its category that I would ever consider buying. I've loved the design of these from the get go. To me, they look like a big cat that's about to pounce.

That reminds me... didn't BMW sue Infinity for stealing it's "M"? What happened to that? Because their still using it... what was the outcome of that story anyway?

Actually the new VQ37 gets better gas mileage, makes more power, and puts out cleaner emmissions. I don't expect the FX to get much heavier if any...

Um it's the other way around. If I remember correctly Infiniti/Nissan sue BMW about the M marque and they lost and they had to remove all M advertisement (in Canada).
Yeah, it wasn't a smart move on Nissan part.
Khanh 12:21AM (7/25/2007)
OH! So it was only in Canada? Hmm.. that makes sense now. Thanks for clearing that up for me =)

It's the other wau around. BMW sue Infinity in Canada and Infinity was demanded/required not to use the M badge entitlement on all their M Series including of course advertisement, print ad and the actual vehicle itself.
