New York Preview: AMG debuting mystery model

Owners of a Mercedes-Benz AMG model who have access to the brand's Private Lounge website have been notified that a mystery model from AMG will make its world debut at the New York Auto Show in a couple of weeks. The only hint as to what model it might be are a few detail pics and a profile shot of the car cloaked in a sheet. As for what model it could be, World Car Fans suggests that it's likely the AMG C 63, the high-performance version of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class that was only officially debuted earlier this month in Geneva. We tend to agree, although the profile shot shows the contour of a door handle that belongs to the front passenger door, but not a corresponding handle for the rear passenger door. All questions will be answered in early April when we're on hand as the cover's pulled.

Could this be the CLK black series. IIRC AMG said that they would be doing more black series models after they released the SLK version. That carbon fibre gill on the bumper doesn't look like it would belong on one of AMG's warm models like the C63

I'd say its a coupe version of the C to go head to head with the upcoming M3.

I'm just taking a shot in the dark but maybe a drop top CL?

It does look like a coupe. There's only one door handle "bump" under the cover. What's that over the trunk? Some kind of giganto spoiler?

Nice work #6!
I'm at the head of the line for a CLK 63 Black Series . Hope they keep the rear seats though. My CLK55 is a full 5 years old and running strong. Such a great daily driver!

Yep, it's probably based on a CLK.

This is a pretty good analysis. I agree with the article, it is probably the CLK AMG Black Series.

My guess is they bring back the Neon as an American B63.

After looking at the one picture in this months R&T of the CLK, I'm pretty sure it's either the CLK or a variation.
Though, C-Class DTM was a pretty great looking ride. On a long shot, it could be the road going version!
