Gumball Madness: Ferrari vs. Lamborghini for $100k, track your favorite racer via GPS
If the excitement of the blowing 'round the globe in a supercar en route to exotic destinations at extralegal velocities isn't exciting enough, the guys over at Gomex.tv have put a little $100,000 wager on the Gumball 3000. The rules? The first Ferrari F430 or Lamborghini Gallardo to reach the Beverly Hills Hilton takes the prize-- which should just about cover the speeding tickets and dead dino receipts they're sure to incur in the course of getting there.
In other news, CoPilot Live, official satellite-navigation sponsors of the Gumball have put up a website where you can track the racers car-by-car via GPS. Most racers will be arriving in Phuket by air, having loaded their whips into an Icelandair jet. That said, they'll be heading for Bangkok come Thursday, so using the site could get more interesting. Want to track skater guru Tony Hawk in his Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 or see who has the fastest Porsche? Here's your chance.

I would prefer a snow camo paint job as opposed to that desert camo paint job...

The person who PAINTED? the car in the picture (let's hope it's only a plastic shrink-wrap covering) needs to be taken out somewheres WITHOUT camo but sporting a fur coat and maybe some antlers. WTF gets into people?
In WW2, artists were commissioned to come up with camo paint jobs for ships and buildings that hid their true "identities" and/or sizes. Sometimes, you still see a variation of this on prototype cars. Why didn't someone put one of those WW2 "zebra stripe" paint jobs on this car?

A camouflage Lambo? I knew that Brock Yates was on the far right, but I mean, this is ridiculous. Is he planning to enter this car in the Cannonball as well?

I'll agree that that is a pretty terrible paint job. It is as if the painter had never seen camo before plus it's a little too out there even for a Lamborghini. Although I would like to see one painted up with a nice understated snow-camo like my ski helmet

Sort of a white/silver/off-white thing.

2. as if lambo's aren't fugly enough.
Are you kidding me, these are some of the most beatiful cars in the world, maybe even better than ferarri. You clearly have no taste.
Can't wait until they release the race on DVD or online. I watched the 2004 race from England to morocco and back up to Spain. You can watch it here on google video

I absolutely LOVE that camo paintjob! At first I said to myself it's just plain wrong but after looking at it I think it's great.

they loaded their whips into an antonov freight plane, while iceland air B757 carried the people (all except the wild boyz crew who decided to take their sleeping bags into the antonov along with vodka-drinking russian pilots). these guys seem to be having a lot of fun.
as for the camo paintjobs, they all have them, i'm guessing in order to be able to tell the difference between gumball3000 participants and all other ferraris and lambos on the roads out there.

Save the fur coat. Just shoot him where he stands...

I like how Chris states that lambo's are fugly enough but doesn't offer anything in the way of comparison. Trace some early lambos and not only were they stylish for exotics, quite a few of them were substantially emulated by others.
I think that that particular paint job should be awarded an offence with a prison term though...
