With Jay Leno's Garage coming to CNBC, the denim-clad comedian and Tim Allen reminisce about doing burnout battles on The Tonight Show in the '90s. Then, they decide to try it again in some modern muscle cars.
Jay Leno returns to hosting duties in his garage after spending a day with Jerry Seinfeld, welcoming fellow comedian Tim Allen and his homebrew 1968 Camaro 427 COPO to his garage. Allen says he got hooked on a green 1968 Camaro he used to see as a kid racing on Woodward in Michigan, but when it came time for his own he went beyond that original hero car.
Jay Leno might be the celebrity that's known for an impressive car collection, but there's no shortage of big names stars that enjoy picking up new rides. Tim Allen, star of Home Improvement, Toy Story, and Galaxy Quest is one of those celebs. Being a Detroiter, Allen's collection of muscle cars shouldn't be a huge surprise. However, it's the generally eclectic feel of his collection that makes it interesting.
Faustino Ibarra is facing charges related to stealing Tim Allen's 1996 Chevrolet Impala last week. Ibarra took the modified sedan from Allen's garage in Los Angeles and drove it more than 1,000 miles to Denver, where family members turned him in to local authorities. But the story took a turn for the strange once a local reporter sat down with the thief for an interview. General Motors has officially announced that television and movie star Tim Allen will be the new "voice of Chevrolet," starting with a series of ads that will begin airing on September 7. These ads will be for the all-new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze, and while Allen is a big-name with a very recognizable voice, GM's vice president of marketing, Joel Ewanick, reminds us that "the car will be the star."

Tim Allen appears to be thinning the herd a little as far as his personal auto fleet's concerned. As a result, you now have the opportunity to own a lightly-used 2006 Corvette Z06 with a legit celebrity connection for what amounts to fair market value. The car's basically stock save for its powder-coated wheels and has a "Buy It Now" option set at $60K. More interesting than the Z06, however, are some of the other cars in Tim's garage, as you can see above. The old Bronco's cool for sure. Ditto
