No matter the platform, voice commands are kind of awful. Sure, Apple's Siri, Xbox One's voice command and Ford's Sync system are some of the better efforts, but by and large, it's still easier to press a couple of buttons on a controller or make a few swipes on a touchscreen.
Chevrolet has added the Volt to its list of 2014 vehicles that will have Chevrolet MyLink with Siri available for iPhone users looking for infotainment perks and freedom from distracted driving. Siri Eyes Free Integration will also be available on the 2014 Camaro, Cruze, Equinox, Malibu and SS.

Honda has partnered up with Apple to bring Siri to the Accord, Acura RDX and ILX. Owners who have an iPhone running iOS 6 will be able to ask the software to perform a number of tasks via voice command using the vehicle's on board microphone and speaker systems. Siri has made it pretty easy to do many tasks on your iPhone, but thanks to Viper Alarm, she can now help you start your car, too. Viper's SmartStart 3.0 gives any smartphone the ability to perform many remote functions on a car by using the alarm system's app, but only iPhone 4S and 5 users can get their car running simply by saying, "Siri, start my car." The future is now.
The big news yesterday in the tech world (and most of the rest of the world) was the debut of the iPhone 5. If you have not yet been left with a feeling of inferiority due to your current device, this should put you over the top. The new iPhone will come with the Apple Maps app. Maps is Apple's rebuttal to the hugely popular Google Maps, and comes with a host of functionality.

Many automakers have already tried to persuade the big fruit to collaborate on in-car tech, but it was always rumored that Apple wasn't interested. But now, it seems they have changed their minds and want to make their Siri voice recognition software the focus of in-car control.
