Danica Patrick is accustomed to hearing the word "first" attached as a suffix to her name. She's the first woman to win a race in the IndyCar series, first woman to finish among the top three in the Indianapolis 500, first woman to win a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole.

Last September's inaugural Electric Vehicle Conversion Convention (EVCCON) held by the EVTV guys was, by any measure, a resounding success that combined a higher-than-expected turnout (both of participants and cars) with a well-rounded itinerary of activities and discussions. Ironically, given that the organizers are in the business of making a weekly EV-focused web-tv program, the only thing missing in the aftermath was a video document of the event. No more.

Racing Dreams is an award-winning documentary that follows the racing exploits of three go-kart racing youths chasing an entry into the world of NASCAR. As we reported before, when Racing Dreams took the podium at the Tribeca Film Festival, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson got behind this project as executive producer, and now this documentary is making its broadcast premiere on Thursday, February 23 at 9 PM on Public Television. If you've been dying to see animated versions of Click and Clack -- aliases Tom and Ray Magliozzi -- then you'll want to tune into your local PBS station tonight. Their new series, As the Wrench Turns, starts off with their presidential campaign, with one of the platforms being "America needs a lube job!" We're all for it. Big Bird and the Cookie Monster will also make a cameo, though we're not sure if it's tonight. Check your PBS site for local times, or check out the show's site for a preview

Tuesday night the PBS science program NOVA will feature an Earth Day look at "the Car of the Future." WGBH, the Boston PBS station that produces NOVA sent us an advance copy of the show to take a look at. Tom and Ray Magliozzi, who are perhaps better known to fans of the NPR show Car Talk as Click and Clack, travel the world from Iceland to China and back to their alma mater at MIT. The "Tappet Brothers" are definitely an acquired taste and not everyone is fan of their shtick on the radio show.

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/television/Coming_soon_to_a_TV_near_you_Click_and_Clack'; Tom and Ray Magliozzi might be the first to admit that most people on the radio have faces that suit the medium, to put it delicately. There's no place to hide when you make the jump to television, but the Tappet brothers have avoided that with their new animated sitcom PBS will be rolling out next summer. The show is not yet named; a contest soliciting names from fans of the pair's radio show will be an

According to a story in the LA Times, Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" didn't reach Christian evangelicals, a group that is eager to join the fight against global warming. Tonight on many PBS stations, Bill Moyers presents "Is God Green," a documentary supported by Rev. Richard Cizik of the National Assn. of Evangelicals.

We all know the basic facts about the DARPA Grand Challenge that pitted over 20 autonomous vehicles against each other and the elements out in the Mojave Desert last October. After watching the NOVA special The Great Robot Race on PBS last night the entire enterprise has taken on a whole new dynamic thanks to the excellent backstory provided by the program that reaches all the way back to the first DARPA Grand Challenge in 2004.

Since ESPN passed on airing the DARPA Grand Challenge in its entirety last October, we’re grateful that PBS is picking up the slack. The esoterically excellent NOVA program will air “The Great Robot Race” tonight on PBS at 8PM EST, in which the winning VW Touareg named “Stanley” fielded by Stanford University will be showcased along with technological innovations from the other 22 contenders it creamed on its way to the crown.
