The latest Japanese automaker to announce their intent to participate in the Environmental Showcase that will be taking place in Hokkaido, Japan in conjunction with the G8 summit in July. Nissan is going head-first into the diesel market. After the announcement about the company's new clean diesel technology that might pave the way for Nissan diesels in America, Nissan announced today it will launch a diesel version of the X-Trail SUV in Japan some time in fall 2008.
It looks like Honda won't be the only Japanese manufacturer producing new clean diesel engines that don't require urea injection to meet Tier II Bin 5 emission standards here in the US. Honda announced the new catalyst technology that they've developed last fall and now Nissan has devised a system of their own.
