In the 1930s, if you had the means, you could have custom coachbuilder Fleetwood fabricate a one-of-a-kind Cadillac just the way you like it. Well-heeled customers would peruse a build book to pick and choose the accoutrements they most liked. About 15 months later, their custom-bodied Cadillac would be delivered for their enjoyment.

We've all slept in our cars, at least for a night. But catching a nap at a rest area during an all-night drive or seeking shelter from the rain while camping is a far cry from living in your vehicle. With homelessness on the rise and funding for social services being cut to the bone, an increase in the numbers of "vehicular homeless" is not surprising.
