Car Of The Year
There are countless Car of the Year awards handed out each year, and naturally, Europe has its own way of doing things. Every year, a panel of jurists representing seven publications in seven different languages and seven different countries get together to name their joint Car of the Year. The panel released a list of 32 candidates back in July, and it has now whittled that list down to seven nominees.
Tuesday afternoon at the Detroit Athletic Club, the finalists for the 2015 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards were announced at a press luncheon. The selected – three in cars and three in trucks/utilities – will vie for the coveted Tiffany crystal, which will be presented at the Detroit Auto Show on Monday, January 12. The finalists are:
While some publications are concerned with finding the best car or truck for the average buyer and slapping a ribbon on it, or (in our case) identifying the best new automotive technology of the year, across the pond our compatriots at Evo are more single-minded in their approach. Every year, the British car mag awards its Car of the Year to its top new performance automobile on the market. And this year, they've picked the Ferrari 458 Speciale.

For the second time, the Cadillac CTS has been named Motor Trend's Car of the Year. After winning the COTY crown for 2008, the new-for-2014 CTS outdid the other two finalists for Car of the Year honors, the Mazda3 and the Cadillac's corporate cousin, the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray.
