Back In The Game It Never Left

We sample the 2016 3 Series with its new six-cylinder engine. For this generation's mid-cycle refresh, BMW managed to fix most of the stuff we didn't love the first time around.

The BMW 3 Series is getting a refresh for the 2016 model year, although you might not be able to tell by looking at it. Underneath the slight styling tweaks is a revised suspension and automatic gearbox. Plus, there are two new models: the 340i and 330e plug-in hybrid.

The latest BMW 3 Series is pretty new, right? Well it's been on the market for the better part of three years now. And on a typical six-year production cycle, that means it's halfway through its life. It only makes sense, then, that BMW should be preparing a little mid-life facelift, and that's just what we appear to be looking at in these latest spy shots.
