We'll admit now, there are a lot of variables in this one, but what you are looking at could very well be the all-new BMW 1 Series GT. This image has been leaked by Auto.Blog.rs (a Serbian site of no relation to our own), who apparently got their hands on the next cover of Germany's Auto Bild, set to hit stands Friday, September 14. According to the report, the vehicle is named Active Sports Tourer Concept, but would likely take up the 1 Series GT if it goes into production.

Rumors about front-wheel-drive vehicles have been swirling around BMW for some time now, and word on the Bavarian street is that this drivetrain shift in BMW's portfolio is set to launch sooner than we may think. Initially, we believed front-wheel drive would be limited to just a sub-compact here and a compact coupe there, but now comes word that the German automaker could produce up to 13 front-wheel-drive vehicles by 2016.

BMW is serious about its genre-bending multi-purpose vehicles. Proof of such can be seen in vehicles such as the X6 and 5 Series Gran Turismo, both of which were designed to offer something that fits in between a standard wagon and another carbon-copy crossover.
