Autoblog contributor James Riswick walks us through the 4 generations of the Subaru Forester on display at the New York Auto Show.
TranscriptJAMES RISWICK: This is James Riswisck with Autoblog. I'm here at the New York Auto Show. And this is the all new fifth generation Subaru Forester. And to bring it out, Subaru has brought out the previous four generations of the Forester. It's kind of cool actually.
The green guy over there, that would be your Generation One Subaru Forester. And then number two is over here. Now, unfortunately, they have mixed and matched a bit. You got your odd numbers over there and your even numbers over here.
Now this is the Generation Four, we're skipping a bit. Frankly, it doesn't look that different from the new one. Very similar, especially up here in the headlights. But that one right there is, in fact, the all new one. And then coming over here, we do have Generation Three. I don't know. I think this is probably the best looking one of the group. I don't know what everybody thinks, but it's kind of classy.
Here's the original Forester. I know quite a lot of people think this one was the best one. Wild interiors. Well, actually the interior wasn't that crazy but they did some wacky cloth upholstery there in the 90s.
So just kind of a cool thing. It's always nice at auto shows when they bring out the old cars in with the new cars. Unfortunately, they usually take them away on regular shopper days. But here for us with the media, at least we're getting to be treated to some cool stuff from the archives.
