One type of car tends to fly off the used car lot.

On average, it takes just over 33 days to sell a used vehicle in America. This nugget of knowledge comes courtesy of iSeeCars.com, which analyzed 2.1 million vehicles aged between 1 and 3 years. Some vehicles, though, sell much quicker.

“Vehicles that move off dealer lots faster must have the right mix of demand and supply that may be driven by factors like price, unique features, and performance,” said Phong Ly, iSeeCars.com CEO.

There are plenty of surprises on this list. Click on the image above to get started.

    10. Tesla Model S

There are a lot of reasons why the Tesla Model S is a quick-selling used vehicle. “Tesla's popularity, along with the scarcity of the Model S on the used car market, is probably driving prices up while cars continue to sell quickly,” opines Li. The fact that there aren't many of these cars to go around, coupled with their undeniable status-symbol quality, can't hurt.

    9. Ford Fusion Energi

Another electrified car that sells pretty quickly is the Ford Fusion Energi. We like the attractive Fusion, and nobody is against getting good fuel mileage. Plus, as a used vehicle the Fusion Energi is something of a bargain. iSeeCars.com reports that the price of the PHEV has dropped by 12.8 percent in the last year to $18,699, on average, when used.

One potential negative: the size of the plug-in hybrid's battery means the trunk is much smaller than it is in the standard midsize sedan.

    8. Mercedes-Benz GLC

The first non-electrified vehicle on our list is the Mercedes-Benz GLC. We can't come up with a good reason why the GLC would be so popular on the used market, except perhaps that there isn't a terribly large supply. In any case, it takes an average of 25.7 days to sell a used GLC.

    7. Scion FR-S

The Scion FR-S was a relative bargain for a fun-to-drive sports coupe when it was new (it has since been rebadged as the Toyota 86), and the same holds true when it's bought used. It takes, on average, 25.1 days to sell the little coupe, which makes it slightly harder to find than the similar Subaru BRZ.

Back to electric vehicles for the number six spot, which is held by the Nissan Leaf. It takes 25 days to sell a used Leaf here in the States. The Leaf's value is falling quickly, too. iSeeCars.com reports that used Leaf values have fallen 10.3 percent to $11,703 in the last year.

    5. Hyundai Veloster Turbo

Used Hyundai Tiburon Turbo models apparently sell, on average, in just 24.9 days. We'd wager the unique coupe's brisk used performance is in part due to its depreciation figures and the fact that there aren't a huge number of them for sale at any given time.

    4. Toyota Prius Plug-In

“Demand for the Prius Plug-In may have stayed strong due to demand from California—73 percent of these cars were sold in that state. Plug-in Hybrids meet the requirements for California's Green Clean Air Vehicle Decals, which allows drivers to use HOV lanes, and the distribution limit of these stickers was removed last year, possibly increasing the Prius Plug-in Hybrid's popularity in that state,” says Ly.

    3. Lexus IS 200t

The Lexus IS 200t is an outlier on this list of used vehicles that sell quickly. It's true that Lexus has a sterling reputation for reliability, which can't hurt, and that the IS is one of the cheapest ways to get into a vehicle from Toyota's luxury division. But it's not a hybrid or EV, which makes its rapid used sales pace a bit surprising.

    2. BMW i3

There are two versions of the BMW i3 – one is fully electric, while the other has a small, gasoline-powered generator that serves to keep the batteries topped up on longer drives. That's an intriguing setup that we're sure attracts buyers. Plus, used i3 models average of $23,603 makes them something of a bargain.

“The i3 was introduced as a 2014 model, so now that it's three years old many leased cars are returning to market, driving down its price and possibly increasing demand for the car,” said Ly.

    1. Fiat 500e

A couple of factors combine to make the Fiat 500e the fastest-selling used vehicle in America. First, it's electric, which is a boon on the used market. Second, it's cheap, with an average used transaction price of less than $10,000.

“The average cost of one- to three-year-old cars is almost $21,000, so it seems consumers are willing to take a chance on a car at a price point that's less than half the average,” suggested Ly.
