Sedans from the 2015 LA Auto Show

Crossovers may be all the rage these days, but that doesn't mean there aren't plenty of cool new sedans hitting the market in the coming few years. From small and inexpensive to big, powerful and luxurious, there's a hot new four-door perfect for every family.

American, Japanese and Italian brands all brought exciting new models to the 2015 LA Auto Show, and we've assembled a few of our favorites for your viewing pleasure.

As one of Hyundai's all time best-selling models, the new Elantra enters its sixth-generation building on the momentum and success of its proven award-winning formula and strong value proposition by offering a bold aerodynamic design with sophisticated styling, all-new efficient powertrains for enhanced fuel economy, better ride quality and noise insulation, and comprehensive safety with class-above features.

The Impreza Sedan Concept is a design concept car previewing the next-generation Impreza which is to be the first one of Subaru's next-generation strategic vehicles envisioned in FHI's Mid-Term Management Vision "Prominence 2020" announced in May 2014. While positioned as an entry model in the Subaru lineup, its compact body features a blend of bold expressions of Subaru's Dynamic & Solid design elements and a quality feel beyond its class - hinting at the design direction not only of the new Impreza but of Subaru's future models as a whole.

The Nissan Sentra compact sedan has achieved some impressive numbers over its more than 30 years and seven generations of production. In the United States alone over four million Sentras have been sold, with nearly 92 percent of Sentras sold in the last 10 years still on the road today. Sentra is also Nissan's third best-selling vehicle, behind Altima and Rogue. And, since the introduction of the latest generation design in fall 2012, Sentra has experienced tremendous growth in sales and market share, making it one of Nissan's fastest growing nameplates.

Now, to help keep the momentum going for the 2016 model year, Sentra has undergone a significant refreshening – starting with a revised exterior and the addition of an expanded suite of available safety and driving aid technologies.

The 2016 Sentra has a starting MSRP* of $16,780 for the Sentra S with 6-speed manual transmission. A Sentra SV with the Driver Assist Package, which includes
NissanConnect with Navigation and Mobile Apps and the innovative active safety features customers highly desire and utilize on a daily basis – such as Blind Spot Warming (BSW) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) – is estimated to be priced at under $20,000. Full pricing on all grade levels and packages will be announced later.

The XE first debuted as an all-new 2016 model at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Following a limited global release, the XE has received critical acclaim from owners and automotive journalists alike as one of the most dynamic compact sports sedans available on the market today. Based on the brand's new aluminum-intensive architecture, the introduction of the XE also gives Jaguar a foothold in the highly competitive North American compact sports sedan segment, significantly expanding potential market reach for the brand in 2016 and beyond.

A true driver's car, the Jaguar XE redefines the concept of the sports sedan thanks to its advanced lightweight construction, streamlined styling, luxurious interior, and outstanding ride and handling. At launch in North America the XE will be available with a buyers choice of three powertrains; the 35t, a 340-hp supercharged 3.0liter V6; the 25t, a 240-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder and the 20d, a 180-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel four-cylinder.

Beautifully crafted and thoughtfully innovative, the 2017 Buick LaCrosse offers full-size sedan customers a striking, all-new design, sophisticated technologies and more-responsive performance.

The next-generation LaCrosse also introduces the new face of Buick, which is influenced by the dramatic cues of the award-winning Avenir concept. Notably, it features a new grille design with a large opening distinguished by the return of a three-color – red, silver and blue – Buick tri-shield insignia, accented by wing- shaped elements set against darkened waterfall grille bars.

Buick revealed the 2017 LaCrosse today at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It goes on sale early next summer.

"The new LaCrosse signals the next phase of Buick's international momentum," said Duncan Aldred, vice president of Buick Sales and Marketing. "Its quietness, comfort and connectivity were developed to set new standards in the segment, supported by technologies not offered on competitors such as the Lexus ES. It is also drop- dead gorgeous."

Longer, lower and wider than the current model, the 2017 LaCrosse is built on a stronger yet lighter structure. In fact, it is about 300 pounds lighter than the current LaCrosse – thanks largely to the use of press-hardened, high-strength steels – which contributes to greater efficiency and more responsive handling.

The new LaCrosse's lower weight is also due in part to new, dissipative sound- absorbing materials that are lower in mass, but provide more effective sound attenuation, resulting in a new threshold for Buick's signature QuietTuning and forming a pillar of the car's enhanced comfort.

The balance of the efficiency equation comes from a technologically advanced, second-generation 3.6L V-6 paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission. Standard Stop/Start technology improves efficiency in stop-and-go driving.
