For most sane people, the 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor should provide more than enough off-roading performance. But for the few looking for a truly unstoppable desert-blasting machine, or maybe just more wheels, Hennessey Performance has plans to make that truck even crazier. It's called the VelociRaptor 6X6 and it's a 600-horsepower, six-wheel take on Ford's baddest F-150. Sorry, Mercedes-Benz, but this is how America does a six-wheel machine.
As far as six-wheeled off-roading machines go, Mercedes set the standard with the G63 AMG 6X6 and has had this slim segment all to itself. The VelociRaptor 6X6 concept rendered here aims to change that. It starts off as a regular Raptor and then Hennessey adds an additional axle at the rear, modifies the aluminum bed to fit another set of wheels, and gives the whole package a performance upgrade. The six-wheeled truck features locking rear axles, uprated off-roading suspension, massive 20-inch wheels, and beefy off-road tires. The front axle, which can be fitted with an optional Torsen differential from Ford, will remain untouched.
The VelociRaptor 6X6 concept benefits from bespoke front and rear bumpers and large LED lights sitting atop the roof. Hennessey will also offer a VelociRaptor 600 twin-turbo upgrade that will give the truck more than 600 horsepower thanks to upgraded turbochargers, modifications to the exhaust system, uprated cooling, and a retuned ECU. For those that still want just four wheels, Hennessey Performance will sell the VelcoiRaptor 600 twin-turbo upgrade for $22,500 on any plain second-gen Raptor.
Speaking of price, the VelociRaptor 6X6, in all of its American goodness, will start at $295,000, which is less than the G63 AMG 6X6's asking price of $430,000 when new. The price includes the Raptor SuperCrew donor truck.
Other optional extras on the VelociRaptor 6X6 include Brembo front and rear brakes, even larger wheels and tires, unique interior touches, brighter LED lights, and armor systems. There's no promised availability date yet, but John Hennessey confirmed that the Texas-based tuning company will gain access to an early-production Raptor shortly, which will be used to build the six-wheeled monster. Interested off-roaders can order the machine directly from Hennessey or through select Ford dealers.
