Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 - If I remove my thermostat, will my car run cooler?

My car keeps overheating. What if I remove the thermostat, will that help it stay cooler?

  • If you remove your thermostat, you are likely to make it overheat worse. The thermostat regulates the flow of coolant, even when wide open. If the coolant flows too fast, such as when you remove it, it won't spend enough time in the engine picking up heat. This will cause overheating.
