Cadillac's marketing boss is admitting that the decision to price the ELR at $75,000 was a mistake. The company thought the big number would make a statement about the PHEV coupe.
Cadillac has issued a raft of updates for the 2016 ELR plug-in hybrid luxury coupe, including more power and upgraded equipment as well as an available Performance Package. The pricey PHEV is also getting a $9,000 price drop.
More details are leaking out about the 2016 Chevy Volt, including that the new Corvette influenced the design and that the ELR's adjustable regen braking levels will be available in the Chevy plug-in hybrid as well.
Rumors had been circulating that the 2016 Cadillac ELR would bow in Los Angeles recently, featuring, in Cadillac's own words, "engineering enhancements." The rumors and that quote are as far as it got – the updated ELR pulled a no-show in LA, and no one outside of the brand appears to know when it will appear.
