great car

I drive 40 miles per day in city traffic and get the advertised 32 mpg. It is very nimble and practical. Sometimes the automatic transmission seems a bit clunky. The pick-up is a bit slower than other cars of this same class, but then this car gets great mileage.

This is a very slow car.

I loved this car when I first bought it. I soon found that it was a very, very slow car. It takes a while to pick up speed. It's good on gas though. It's an OK car but not worth the price that I'm paying for it. Would I recommend it? Yea the newer scios...sure

Great Commuter Car

Because I drive 1 hour each way to work, I needed a car with good gas mileage. I was determined to buy a car with a hatchback and I particularly like the feature of a rear windshield wiper. While researching cars that fit my "wants list" and my price range, I came across the Scion Xa and decided this was the car to buy! I am very pleased with my choice and would recommend it highly.

Saved my daughter's life!

2007-08-12 08:53:57

Long story short, I feel the Scion saved my daughters life. It was about 4:30 AM (3 blocks away from home) when she lost control of her scion xA going around a turn at about 40 MPH. She went down an embankment, up the other side and plowed front end first into a brick colum and iron fence. EMS couldn't believe she was alive let alone talking and moving around. Although injuries were sustained, there was no internal bleeding and no broken bones. When I saw the car I couldn't beleive it either. There were only a couple of windows NOT shattered or blown out, and the passenger main frame (whatever incases the drivers/passengers themselves) was still intact. It was the only thing not twisted or torn apart. The front end was no more, the axles were busted up sending one tire flying off. Most likely, if she hadn't been wearing the seat belt she may have gone through the windshield. Glad all that persistance with car seat restraints/seat belts when she was little paid off. But It is my feeling that based on what was left of the vehicle that it was the strong infrastructure of that frame that kept her alive. And keep in mind this car was maybe 3 years old. So it wasn't the new one with optional side impact bags.

Hopefully the Scion people will read this and continue doing what they are doing and more. But I thought you readers might like to know.
