I purchased a 2004 Jaguar X-Type with 15,000 miles. she has a 5 speed manual transmission. The manual Transmission is great, and easy to learn. Can feel heavy at times, but you get used to it, and its worth it. I would never own this in an automatic, she has soo much more characteristics. I love the car so much. I now have about 20,000 miles on the car. I replaced those crappy tires with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires, and replaced the wheels with 18" Sport Series wheels. It looks and handles great. She feels like a true luxury car now, and she handles like never before. She used to understeer like a dog, but now she will do a full four wheel slide. I have also added new chrome trim and a mesh grille. Very comfortable on long rides, and also not too shabby on fuel efficiency. I average about 22 MPG, but with careful driving, I have had it up to 29 MPG. Also has a wonderful audio system. Love the car, and I reccomend it to anyone looking for an affordable and usable luxury car.

After I did extensive research on this model, I made the decision to purchase a 2005 x-type. I understood by my search that when they first rolled out the x-type in 2002 it was riddled with problems, and seems that that was all true. However, Jaguar made over 1000 component changes on this car and it seems to have made the difference. My 2005 is fantastic, I have had only one issue and my Jaguar service department was fantastic. I love the ride, the style and the interior is very luxurious. I live in Michigan and my x-type goes thru the snow like a tank with this ALL WHEEL DRIVE X TYPE is equiped with. Summer time it is sporty, all the windows drop completely down and I put the moon roof back and enjoy the drive. The car really Performs. I feel bad for the people who got burnt on the 2002-2003 X-type. Also, sad for Jag I am sure it hurt this cars future as it is do longer available after 2008.
