The GMC rear-wheel drive Savana 3500 passenger and cargo vans provide a rugged and durable means of transporting several passengers or a large payload of cargo. The GMC Savana passenger van comes in mid-duty 2500 Series and heavy-duty 3500 Series models. There are also regular (135-inch) and extended (155-inch) wheelbase versions, with seating space for eight, 12 or 15 people. Towing is also a strength for the Savana models, with trailer ratings ranging up to 10,000 pounds. There are three different engines offered in the Savana vans. Most models are equipped with either a 4.3L V6 that makes 276 horsepower and 298 lb.-ft of torque or a 6.6L V8 making 401 horsepower and 464 lb.-ft. For those needing the most hauling power in a gasoline engine, the 2.8L turbo charged 4-cylinder makes 181 horsepower and 369 lb.-ft. Across the entire lineup, the Savana comes with a 31-gallon fuel tank. All 2500 and 3500 models come with a heavy-duty 6-speed or an 8-speed automatic transmission. Standard equipment includes air conditioning, auxiliary power outlets, a driver information center and an AM/FM radio. Heavy-duty 3500 Series models include various other upgrades, such as a higher-capacity battery and alternator, as well as a heavy-duty transmission with external oil cooler. For 2021, the GMC Savana receives several updates including a new 6.6L V8 gasoline engine option which is replacing the former 6.0L V8 Vortec engine. The Communication package, Safety package, Enhanced Convenience package include the more powerful V8 engine. The 4.3L V6 engine models see an increase in their gross combined weight rating.
