2020 Jeep Compass

2020 Compass Photos
The 2020 Jeep Compass crossover SUV is bigger than a Renegade and smaller than a Cherokee. It has swoopy styling and business-friendly finishing touches. For 2020 it gets some new options including safety features available for every model, and a luxury seat package with heated and cooled power front seats.

A 2.4-liter inline-4 is the only engine available and it's adequate for around town. A 9-speed automatic transmission comes with all-wheel drive; a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual is available with front-wheel-drive models. All-wheel drive is optional.

The ride is fine, and its road manners are enjoyable, while there's a Trailhawk model that is a capable off-roader.

Four adults fit in the cabin but five will be pinched. The Compass cabin has better leg room than shoulder room. Cargo space is good, as it should be in a crossover SUV

The rare front-wheel-drive Compass with a manual transmission gets the best mileage, managing 23 mpg city, 32 highway, 26 combined. Four-wheel-drive versions with the manual manage 22/31/25 mpg, which is the same as front-wheel-drive versions with the 6-speed automatic. Four-wheel-drive, 9-speed automatic Compasses are rated at 22/30/25 mpg.

The Compass gets four stars overall from the NHTSA. The IIHS gave it 'Good'? marks all around, with the exception of the headlights.
For 2020 every Compass can get an optional safety equipment including automatic emergency braking, active lane control, automatic high beam headlights, blind-spot monitors, rain-sensing wipers, and active parking assist with front and rear sensors.
