The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette is a revolution in every sense of the word. Chevy has switched to a mid-engine layout for the first time in the model’s history, and the excitement is through the roof. It gets an exotic design to go along with its exotic layout, but Chevy still managed to integrate traditional Corvette styling where it could. The LT2 V8 engine itself is just an evolution of the previous Corvette motor, making a hair more power than before. However, Chevy decided to drop the manual transmission in favor of a new dual-clutch automatic. The eight-speed gearbox is the only option now. On paper, we think the C8 is a total knockout. It’s available in coupe (T-top) and convertible body styles for 2020, and the performance statistics are otherworldly. From a numbers and specs perspective, it looks like the C8 has everything beat at its price point — all other sports cars are officially on notice.

It’s far more luxurious than it ever was previously, and it’s turned into a tech wonderland. A large digital gauge cluster replaces the traditional gauge set, and a sizable infotainment screen is turned to face the driver. The center stack layout and dash design are new, too, giving the C8 a futuristic feel while remaining ergonomic. Chevy also decided to make the convertible a hardtop design, foregoing the long-running soft top.
The 2020 Chevy Corvette is going to be available in the two body styles and three trim levels: 1LT, 2LT and 3LT. Every trim comes with the same 6.2-liter V8 engine. In base form it makes 490 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. With the Z51 package it makes 495 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, thanks to a freer flowing exhaust. Chevy says the Corvette will reach 60 mph in under 3 seconds when equipped with the Z51 package. The value play is to stick with the 1LT, as the 2LT gets expensive quickly with the additional tech and convenience equipment. The 3LT only adds nicer materials, so unless you’re looking for a luxury Corvette, it’s fine to skip.
