2017 Golf Alltrack Owner Reviews (2)

I've owned this car for a year now with about 38k miles driven... lots of highway. Mine is a minimally equipped base model Alltrack. I have very few complaints with the car... one really. The DSG transmission is an awful dance partner. In "D" mode it's lethargic at shifting and is generally only happy on the highway at a steady cruise. Initial launches are frustrating, and at times jerky as it decides how to engage, and in what gear to do so. Put it into "S" or Sport Mode and you now have a hyperactive frenetic shift program that is holding gears too long, and shifting at odd times quite - often being so abrupt as to literally toss your head around at launch. Volkswagon (IMHO) totally blew it with this transmission, and it is really the only pox on an otherwise great car. Pro's are many - Decent riding, decent handling (Not a GTI but fun), very comfortable seats, excellent stereo system, practical beyond reason for it's compact size, overall well equipped considering the low cost of purchase. I highly recommend this car. I just caution anyone as picky as me, the transmission will periodically irk you.

I now have close to 2000 ,iles on this car, bought to replace a sold back TDI Jetta wagon. My wife and I really like the new Alltrack. It handles very well, is quite comfortable on long drives and has already shown that it is capable of 33-35 mpg on a trip using intermediate grade Exxon gasoline. Our car has the Fender stereo system (nice!) and all the electronic bells and whistles we could ask for such as park assist, adaptive cruise control, etc. The back up camera is superb in its clarity and field of vision. This car is very quiet on the highway as well which makes for relaxing travel. Also, this car has great fit and finish. We would highly recommend this vehicle to anyone wanting a small wagon with good four wheel drive traction, good interior storage , comfort and decent gas mileage.
