Building on the popular Chevrolet Malibu, the Malibu Hybrid introduces a strong hybrid technology that leverages components from the plug-in Chevrolet Volt, reaching an exceptional level of fuel efficiency. A direct-injection 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a two-motor drive unit powers the Malibu Hybrid, generating 182 horsepower of total system output. A 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack provides electric power to the hybrid system, while a regenerative braking system helps maintain charge. Standard equipment includes: 17-inch aluminum wheels, LED daytime running lights, premium cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control and satellite radio. The Malibu Hybrid stays connected with a Chevrolet MyLink radio, featuring a 7-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth streaming audio, 4G and Wi-Fi hotspot capability, and smartphone integration; wireless device charging is also available. Standard safety features include anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist, stability/traction control systems, a rearview camera, OnStar and Teen Driver mode, as well as ten airbags; other available technologies include Forward Collision Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Keep Assist and Side Blind Zone Alert. All-new last year, the Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid carries over with minimal changes for 2017. The Teen Driver parental monitoring feature is now standard.
