2015 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class
The Mercedes-Benz SL-Class two-seat roadster is now in its sixth generation, with 60 years of sports-car heritage re-imagined in a modern, technology-laden luxury automobile. The SL-Class is comprised of four models: the new SL400, the SL550, the SL63 AMG and the SL65 AMG. The SL400 introduces a more efficient 328-hp 3.0L twin-turbo V6 engine, while the SL550 is powered by a 429-hp 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8; both are mated to a seven-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and paddle shifters. The SL63 AMG boasts a hand-built 577-hp 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8, as well as a seven-speed MCT (multi-clutch technology) transmission. The SL65's larger 6.0-liter twin-turbo V12 generates an immense 621 horsepower, and is paired with a seven-speed AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS automatic transmission. Standard equipment on every SL-Class model includes a composite power retractable hardtop with panorama glass roof, 18- or 19-inch aluminum wheels, LED daytime running lights, heated leather seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bluetooth wireless connectivity, HD/satellite radio, smartphone integration and a voice-activated hard drive-based navigation system. Safety features include four-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, an electronic stability program (ESP) with integrated traction control, Bi-Xenon headlamps with Active Curve Illumination and Adaptive Highbeam Assist, PRE-SAFE forward collision warning, driver ATTENTION ASSIST and an automatically deployable rollover bar, as well as eight airbags. The Mercedes-Benz SL-class carries over with minor changes for 2015. Most notably, a new SL400 model has joined the lineup, featuring a more efficient 3.0-liter V6 engine. Additionally, the SL63 AMG gets a power increase to 577 horsepower and 664 lb.-ft. torque.
