Base w/Range Extender 4dr Rear-Wheel Drive Hatchback
2015 BMW i3

The all-electric BMW i3 is a new direction for both the German manufacturer and the industry. It's the first-ever electric vehicle to be designed from the ground-up to be electric, and the first mass production use of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) for the passenger cell. The i3 is powered by a 170-hp electric motor and 22kWh lithium-ion battery pack which give it an approximate real-world range of 80-100 miles and a governed top speed of 93 miles per hour. The battery can be charged in 3 hours with a 220 volt charger, or as quick as 30 minutes with the SAE DC Combo fast charging system. A small range-extender engine can be optioned as well, this small two-cylinder gas generator can roughly double the i3's range by maintaining the battery's charge. There are three trim levels known as Worlds: Mega, Giga, and Tera; and they are meant to make option selection easier. Standard safety features include LED headlights and taillights, six airbags, an alarm system, BMW Assist eCall with Emergency Request, anti-lock brakes and stability control. Options include a Parking Package, a Technology + Driving Assistant Package, a harman/kardon premium sound system, heated front seats and 20-inch alloy wheels. For 2015, the DC fast charging system, heated seats and satellite radio have been added to standard equipment.
