2014 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class
The Mercedes-Benz GL-Class is the auto maker's large seven passenger SUV and is meant to provide all the luxury and capacity demanded by the American market. The GL-Class is offered with four different engine choices: a 240-hp 3.0-liter turbo diesel V6 in the GL350 BlueTEC, a 362-hp 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 in the GL450, a 429-hp 4.6-liter twin-turbo V8 in the GL550, and finally, a 550-hp 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 in the GL63 AMG. All engines are bolted to a 7-speed automatic transmission and full-time four-wheel drive system. Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes w/Brake Assist, traction control, stability control w/roll control, eight airbags, mbrace2 SOS system, PRE-SAFE, rear camera, drowsiness detection, crosswind stabilization and collision prevention assist. The GL550 and GL63 AMG also includes bi-xenon headlights with highbeam assist and curve illumination, lane keep assist and blind spot detection. For 2014, heated/cooled cupholders are now available, and three new paint colors have been introduced.
