The 2009 Saab 9-7X, which is offered in three different models. The base 4.2i is powered by a 285-horsepower, 4.2L inline 6-cylinder engine; the 5.3i upgrades to a 300-horsepower, 5.3L V8; and the top-of-the-line, high-performance Aero model gets a 6.0L V8 making 390 horsepower and 395 pound-feet of torque.

The 5.3i benefits from GM's Active Fuel Management system, which helps to improve fuel economy by up to five percent by running the engine on half of its cylinders when cruising or coasting.

All three models are equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission and an automatic all-wheel drive system. In Aero models, the system uses a Torsen center differential that directs more torque toward the wheels with the best traction, for improved launch on slippery surfaces.

A trailer hitch receiver is standard on the 9-7X, and it can tow up to 6,600 pounds. The interior is also quite roomy, with seating space for five. The rear seatback is split and folds forward to expand the already-spacious 39.8 cubic feet of cargo space to more than 80 cubic feet.

In addition to the more powerful engine, the Aero includes a sport suspension, heavy-duty rear axle, limited-slip rear differential. The Aero model includes 20-inch polished aluminum wheels with V-rated high-performance tires. Specially embroidered seats and embossed floor mats are also included.

All three models of the Saab 9-7X come well equipped with common luxury-car features including, power heated side mirrors, leather upholstery with heated front seats, remote keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, power moonroof, and a premium sound system with 6-disc in-dash changer. The new Altitude package, available with the 4.2i or 5.3i, offers 18" polished wheels, standard navigation and diamond silver metallic or carbon flash metallic exterior colors which used to be exclusive to the Aero model.

The StabiliTrak stability control system, which improves safety by helping to avoid the loss of driver control on slippery road surfaces or in evasive maneuvers, is standard across the line, along with a rollover-sensing safety system and head-curtain side air bags.
