2006 Volkswagen New Beetle

The Volkswagen New Beetle is practical, trendy, and refined. It combines German engineering and performance with exceptional fit and finish. Offered as a two door hatchback, or a two door convertible, with seating for four passengers, this is a modern interpretation of an unmistakable icon. The Volkswagen New Beetle is a front-wheel drive car based off of the MK4 generation Golf/Jetta platform. The new standard engine is a 150-hp 2.5-liter inline-five cylinder. An improved 100-hp 1.9-liter four-cylinder TDI diesel engine is optional. Buyers can also choose between three different transmission types; five-speed manual, six-speed automatic with Tiptronic, and the new six-speed automatic Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) with Tiptronic. Air-conditioning, cruise control, tilt/telescoping steering wheel, keyless entry, power windows and door locks, and 16-inch alloy wheels are all standard conveniences on the Beetle. Safety features include six airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control, electronic stability program, and anti-intrusion side door beams. Redesigned for 2006, the Beetle gets an improved exterior design, and interior appearance. Also, traction control, and electronic stability program are now standard equipment.
