My 2004 Hyundai Sonata is now 14 years old ! I bought it new! I like my car, & It only has 37,000 miles on it! I want a new car, but can't justify why other than I just want a new one . h2dav you seemed very happy with your Sonata, I bet you's like mine!,,, But there isn't a sun roof ! Will heated mirrors do and auto start ? My car has never had any serious issues............
My First Car Purchase

Thank you Hyundai for building a car that lasted me 163000 miles so far. This has been a great car purchase. I bought the car when returning from Kuwait after serving in the Army Reserves. The only problems have been a blower regulater that went out at around 125000 miles. Lucky for me this part only required the removal of the glove box and a $70 part from the dealership. I purchased the pearl white Hyundai Sonata LX V6 in May of 2004. The vehicle came will every possible option that Hyundai offered. Leather-ish seats, power windows, power door locks, power sun roof, Automatic Climate Control and a CD/Cassette player which I immediately removed. The only reason is because I love noise and put in a full system whick include six speakers and two subs. The very first problem I experienced with the vehicle was that the speed sensor was tempermental at times. The speedometer at times would not even show the speed at all. I brought it to a dealership but the issue was never solved. This also I believe lead to the cruise control not always working both of these issues manifested themselves at about 50000 miles and have never been solved. Obviously my Hyundai was produced before gas mileage became and issue because the best I can do is about 24 mpg. The only other gripe I have is the amount of noise that comes into the cabin. Not more than other cars in its class but definetly more than a V6 Accord or Camry (I've noticed the 4 cylinder models of each generates a good bit of rucous. Other than my above complaints everything for the past 6 years has been just great. Also 2 of these years were on the extremely potholed streets of New Orleans, LA. The only other thing I've done is changed the oil, brakes and tires. Oh and one change of the transmision fluid. It's going to be hard for me to leave the Hyundai brand especially with some of the new cars coming our way.
great car till 60K, then it needs traded off or crushed
Then it started with a bad vibration in the steering wheel. The car had the engine & transmission replaced under warranty @ 59k. the dealer kept the sonata for 5 weeks to determine the cause of the vibration. I contacted Hyundai several times in CA & they could care less about any warranty issue you have.I will never own another hyundai product. This car was traded off ,because the new transmission installed under warranty started slipping after 600 miles. I would not recommend this car to my worst enemy.
