Refined fun daily driver

I have a 2002 LS that I have owned since new with the sport suspension package including P235/55/16 tires and preferred equipment group which includes the 4.3L V6 engine. I have suffered no breakdowns. My biggest complaint is the poor quality of components used in the brake system and my dealers service department(Denooyer Chevrolet, Holland MI). I have replaced the brakes with better (Raybestos)parts and have had no further issues, I wish I could say the same about the dealer! This vehicle is fun to drive with a 5-speed manual transmission which shifts smooth and I'm told is the same transmission used on the full size pickups.I drive mine daily and although the cab is small it is to be expected in a mini pickup. I have lots of room in the bed for hauling things and regularly get 20m.p.g. with a mix of city and highway driving. The handeling is suberb with the wide tires and Bilstien shocks that came standard. It is very low to the ground and is not the best vehicle in the snow but the other 9 months of the year here in Michigan when the roads are clear make owning this vehicle worthwhile. There are no rattles and the vehicle still feels tight after almost 8 years. Styling is great and the vehicle looks much mor expensive than it's true cost. I have no rust yet. All controls are easy to reach and the instuments are easy to read at a glance. The V6 engine is not as refined as later model overhead cam engines from GM but what it lacks in refinement it makes up for in cubic inches and very brisk acceleration in a small vehicle. Combine that with the taut riding suspension and you have a competant vehicle that is a refined daily driver.

Owned a 2003 chevy s10 4x4 club cab. Bought it @ a dealership (68k miles) with all maintenance records. I have to say that it was one of the worst vehicles I have ever owned. Virtually every major component suffered a breakdown, culminating with the rear differential & axel catching fire while I was driving it. 4x4 system didn't provide great traction & as a whole was a statement, in my mind, of why we shouldn't bail out the UAW or any car company.
