2002 LeSabre Owner Reviews (5)

I purchased my 2002 Buick LeSabre used several years ago when it had 86,000 miles on it. Now my car has 230,000 miles; and I have little doubt that it will reach the "quarter million" mark. Yes, I needed to install a Jasper transmission. Yes, I needed to replace the interior roof lining. Yes, I needed to replace the front wheel bearings and tie rods. So far as I am concerned, these are normal repairs. The engine is still strong. I get 22 to 24 miles per gallon using top tier regular grade fuel (I am very satisfied with Sinclair). The ride remains quiet and comfortable. I change the engine oil (using Valvoline conventional grade) every 3,000 which service, performed by Monro Auto Service Center, includes tire rotation at a charge of only $24.00! The leather seats remain color fast and show no sign of excessive wear or surface cracks. The exterior remains rust free and the paint has not faded. The car offers unsurpassed visability when driving and corners curves much better than suspected. While I have NEVER had a problem or was disappointed with a General Motors vehicle, this Buick is unbelieveable. Many who have ridden in my car say that it is an abnormality, that most cars do not withstand the test of time. Yet, I still see so many of these Buicks on the road which confirms to me that, with ordinary and timely maintenance, this Buick is indeed an iron horse.
LeSabre 2002 Custom 4 door Sedan
We purchased this auto new from the show room. We just sold it after loving it for 13 years. It had 150,000 miles and probably could have gone another 100,000. We have a new Cadillac with all the bells and whistles and latest technology but the seats are not as comfortable and I feel as though the Buick was a better riding auto, although the Cadillac weighs more. On a daily basis I see so many of these cars still on the road. We have a neighbor ************ sold the same model for a new Buick and regrets it. The 2002 was a luxury model for its time, offering great mileage, comfort, reliability and safety. I think it was the best auto we ever owned.
Upside of LeSabre 2002 Custom Model

I got this car when me and my brother were handling my Mother's estate once she needed to move into Assisted Living. I had just sold to CarMax a 4 year old, low mileage Volvo SUV, that the transmission had gone out on and Volvo/Ford would not stand behind their product and solve the defect. So, I will NEVER drive a Ford/Volvo product ever again. But the LeSabre had to be dealt with, and since it sat in a garage and only had 18K miles on it, I decided to give it a try. Boy, was I happy. The LeSabre is a friggin Sherman tank, you know you are safe in this sedan. On a full tank of gas, it gets over 600 miles to a tank, so its great for long trips. The Custom model has a nice stereo/CD system and certainly does the job. The back seats are really roomy, and can easily hold 3 adults in comfort. And the trunk probably holds more gear than a SouthWest jet does, its almost impossible to fill it up with luggage. I keep it immaculately maintained and have had ZERO issues with it mechanically. I did have to replace 2 of the motors of the electric windows, but again, the car sat in a garage for almost 4 years, so some maintenance was inevitable. I put some really good Michelin road tires on it from Discount Tire at 40K and am about to have the brakes serviced at 50K. On the road, this car rides as if your floating in a safe cruiser. It has excellent pick up to get on the interstate and once you hit 75mph, just hit the cruise and enjoy the ride. Even though the seats are motor and adjustable, the drivers seat was just not perfect for me, but I went to the Back Store and got a TemperPedic custom shaped seat liner and now the seat is as comfortable as the Volvo I got rid of. I can ride for hours and hours and only need to stop for restroom breaks. Yes, it is, as my neighbor says, "an old lady car" but at 48, I have done the car tango to impress all I want and I enjoy the low maintenance, and the reliability of the Lesabre Custom. Look around, there are alot of these on the roads.

The Lesabre stands true to GM's reputation, after 50,000 miles American cars betray you. The LeSabre provides a wonderful, luxurious ride but after 3 or 4 years -- look out. My fuel pump went, my high beam lights would not turn on (or off), the front wheel bearings wore out.... I'm as patriotic - or more than the next guy, but I am financially unable to buy American again. And the current cries of a new quality phenomenon ? I simply don't believe it. I ******* were different.
