Overview

The Kia Soul is a trendy five-door "urban crossover vehicle" based on the Kia Rio. The styling, standard equipment, value price, and overall usefulness, all contribute to make the Soul very appealing, especially to the youth market. The Soul is powered by one of three engines a 130-hp 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed manual or automatic transmission, a 161-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired to a six-speed automatic transmission, or a 201-hp 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with a seven-speed auto-shift manual transmission. Trim specific standard equipment includes 16- 17- or 18-inch aluminum wheels, bucket front seats, climate control, a 7-inch touchscreen display, Bluetooth and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity. Safety features such as six airbags, a rear view camera, low tire pressure warning system and 4-wheel anti-lock disc brakes with brake assist and Hill Start Assist Control are all standard. Other safety features that are available depending on trim include Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Blind Spot Collision Warning, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance-Assist (RCCA) and a Driver Attention Warning (DAW).
