Overview

The Toyota Prius is a gas-electric hybrid that sets the standard for environmentally-friendly transportation. This five-door liftback delivers comfort, value and a smooth ride, as well as impressive fuel economy and low emissions. The Prius is available in four grades ? L, LE, XLE and Limited. All trim levels employ hybrid powertrain technology that unites a 1.8-liter Atkinson-cycle four-cylinder gasoline engine with a powerful electric drive motor to generate 121 combined horsepower. A continuously variable transmission (CVT), with selectable Normal and Power driving modes, is standard. New this year is the optional AWD-e system which utilizes an electric motor to drive the rear wheels. Trim-dependent equipment includes: 15- and 17-inch aluminum wheels, LED headlights, passive entry/start, automatic climate control, heated front seats, eco-friendly SofTex upholstery, HD/satellite radio, a touch-screen audio display and Bluetooth wireless connectivity/music streaming, along with voice-activated navigation, smartphone integration and an in-cabin wireless charging system for Qi-compatible devices. Standard safety features include anti-lock brakes with brake assist, vehicle stability/traction control and a rear backup monitor, as well as eight airbags and Toyota Safety Sense. Hybrid-related components are backed by an 8 year/100,000 mile warranty. The Prius is refreshed for 2019, adding new exterior design elements alongside adding the AWD-e system availability.
