Overview

The BMW 5-series puts an emphasis on the driving experience. Now in its seventh generation, this mid-size luxury car remains a true sports sedan by delivering aggressive styling, precise handling and outstanding safety. The 540i is available in either rear- or xDrive all-wheel drive and is powered by a 332-hp 3.0-liter, turbo, inline-six engine mated to an eight-speed automatic with shift paddles. Standard features include leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control with active micro-filtration, power sunroof, a 12-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, 18-inch alloy wheels with run-flat tires, and a 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation system with iDrive 6.0 and live traffic data. Safety is provided by six airbags, Active Protection pre-collision system, BMW Assist emergency call, alarm system, rear view camera, electronic traction and stability control, anti-lock brakes, tire pressure monitoring, LED brakelights, LED foglights, and adaptive LED headlights. Some available tech and safety features include a head-up display, lane departure and blind spot warnings, 360 surround cameras, ventilated and massaging front seats, heated front and rear seats, dynamic suspension, Apple CarPlay with wireless phone charging, active cruise control with steering and lane assist, BMW Display Key, remote control parking and a WiFi hotspot. For 2018, rear view camera is now standard equipment.
